1. What is a Designated Store?
  LeaseJapan is now an official "Designated Store". This means that LeaseJapan can now sell cars and car parts without charging Sales Tax.
2. Who is eligible for this?
If you are diplomat // diplomatic agent // envoy // foreign service personnel // member of the diplomatic service // member of the foreign service // embassy official // embassy personnel // embassy staff  and have an official “Menzei Card” (or Duty exemption card), then you are eligible for this exemption.
3. What is required?
You must show your “Menzei Card” to a staff member of LeaseJapan when placing an order for a Car or Car part and must also provide LeaseJapan with the appropriate completed form. This form is called the “Certificate of Tax Exemption Purchase for Foreign Establishments”. For car purchases, you must be contracted to stay in Japan for a minimum of 24months from the time the car is registered in your name.If both the Mezei Card and the appropriate form is lodged with LeaseJapan, you will be exempt from paying Japanese Sales Tax
4. Other Requirements:
You must be in Japan for a minimum of 24months. For car purchases, you must be going to stay in Japan for another 24months from the date that the car is registered in your name.
